0730 hours, 6 June 1944. Bravo Company, 37th Engineer Combat Battalion lands from LCI 88 at Exit E-1 on the Easy Red Sector of Omaha Beach, Normandy, France. By nightfall, Bravo Company helped to secure the bluffs around Exit E-1, opened three lanes through the beach, and cleared the main road off of the beach towards St. Laurent-sur-Mer. The war in Europe would end in Berlin less than a year later.

At 0748 hours local on 7 December, 1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy attacked the US Pacific Fleet at anchor in Pearl Harbor, HI. This attack prompted a declaration of war against Japan and brought the United States into World War II. Bravo Company would join the fight on the shores of Normandy on 6 June, 1944, and end with V-E Day in Germany on 8 May, 1945. Remember today as another opportunity to thank the Greatest Generation for their service to our nation.

Today, 16 August, we celebrate National Airborne Day to honor the airborne forces of the United States military. Created by President George W. Bush, National Airborne Day commemorates the first official Army parachute jump on 16 August, 1940, by members of the Parachute Test Platoon at Fort Benning, GA. AIRBORNE! ALL THE WAY!
