The City of Fort Bragg wishes to notify residents and businesses of upcoming work that may temporarily affect traffic and property access. Argonaut Constructors, Inc., along with their subcontractor, will be performing street surface treatment along South Franklin Street, from Oak Street to Cypress Street, on Monday, September 14th. The work will be coordinated to ensure minimal disruption.

Today, we pause to remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, including the brave first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while running toward danger to save others. We honor the victims, their families and loved ones, the survivors, and the countless first responders who answered the call that day.

Twenty-five years later, their courage continues to inspire us, their stories remain a part of our history, and their sacrifices will never be forgotten.

We remember. We honor. We never will forget.

Please be advised that the number 2 southbound lane of Highway 1 in the 300 block, directly west of Maple Street, will be closed Monday through Friday from September 9 through September 29. Please expect traffic delays and consider using an alternate route when possible.

During storm events, stormwater backs up onto Highway 1 (see photo), which has caused many vehicle accidents. This project has been initiated as an emergency to ensure proper stormwater drainage at this location is restored before winter rains. Refer to Caltrans District 1 website for further information.

Paul Bunyan Days Parade: Road Closure & Detour Information

The Paul Bunyan Days Parade is coming up! Please be aware of temporary road closures in downtown Fort Bragg:

Monday, September 7, 2026
10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

The RED line on the attached map shows the parade route and no parking areas

The Green Lines on the attached map show alternative routes. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes to avoid the parade area.

Suggested alternate routes include Harrison Street for north/south travel and open east/west streets outside of the parade route. If you don't need to access downtown, consider avoiding the central downtown area during the closure.

Please watch for barricades, volunteers, traffic-control personnel, and officers, and follow all posted signs and directions.

School Drop-Off & Pick-Up Zones: Let’s Keep Everyone Safe!

With the school year in full swing, we want to remind everyone about the designated drop-off and pick-up areas around our schools. Taking a few extra moments to use these zones correctly helps keep students, families, staff, and drivers safe.

BACK TO SCHOOL TRAFFIC REMINDER!

As the school year gets underway, we’re asking everyone to plan for extra traffic and allow a little more time during school drop-off and pick-up.

📍 The red lines on the map represent areas where you can expect traffic delays. Please use extra caution when traveling through these areas.
📍The green lines on the map highlight recommended alternative, less congested routes. Using these routes can help keep traffic moving and reduce congestion.

Help keep our students, families, and drivers safe:

• Slow down and watch for children and pedestrians.
• Follow all posted speed limits and traffic signs.
• Watch for buses and always follow the rules around school buses.
• Use designated drop-off areas whenever possible.
• Be alert for students crossing streets and entering or exiting vehicles.
• Avoid stopping or parking in areas that block crosswalks, driveways, intersections, or traffic lanes.

A few extra minutes of patience can make a big difference. Let’s work together to make getting to and from school safe for everyone!

Ah yes… back-to-school season. The time of year when backpacks return, alarms get ignored, and somehow everyone forgets how parking lots work.

Don’t worry. We got you. Consider this your annual “ABC's of Drop Off and Pick Up” refresher.

🚗 Hazard lights are not a parking pass.
They do not unlock VIP pickup privileges, create a temporary parking spot, or make double parking okay. We checked.
🚦 The street is not the waiting room.
If the pickup line is backed up, pulling into the travel lane to wait only creates more chaos. Circle the block, find a legal spot, or arrive a little early. Yes, walking a few extra steps is allowed. Your sneakers can handle it.
🅿️ The parking aisle is not a bonus parking spot.
When the lot is full, we understand the struggle. But leaving your car in the aisle turns everyone’s morning into a real-life game of “how is that vehicle supposed to get through?”
Keep aisles clear. Everyone’s trying to get where they need to go.
🚫 Driveways are not pickup zones.
The people who live there still need to leave their homes. Shocking, we know.
🚸 Crosswalks are not a suggestion box.
If someone is crossing, let them cross. A few extra seconds of patience can make a big difference.
🚲 Look out for bikes, scooters, and walkers.
Kids are excited, distracted, and sometimes running on pure “I found my friend!” energy. Slow down and stay alert.
📱 Your phone can wait.
That text, notification, or group chat update will still be there after you park. Keep your eyes where they belong.

So grab your coffee, leave a little early, and remember: we survived dial-up internet, waiting for songs to download, and getting lost before GPS.

We can absolutely handle the school pickup line. 😉

As the week comes to a close, we’ve been reflecting on what a wonderful National Night Out we had! A huge thank you to everyone who came out, connected with our team, and helped make the evening such a great success.

Events like this are about more than just one night; they’re about building relationships, creating trust, and strengthening the connection between our local law enforcement agencies and the community we’re proud to serve. It was a great reminder that some of the most meaningful moments happen when we can simply come together, share a few laughs, and get to know one another outside of an emergency call.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support, participation, and community spirit that made this event so special. As we wrap up the week, we’re proud to reflect on the connections we made and the incredible community that continues to show up for one another. Thank you for making National Night Out one to remember! 💙🚔

Scammers don’t always look like scammers. Sometimes they sound like a worried grandchild, a helpful bank employee, a government official, or even someone offering an investment opportunity.
As a law enforcement agency, we want to remind our community to slow down and verify before sending money.

Please take caution when someone -
Demands immediate payment
Threatens arrest or loss of benefits
Requests gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, or cash
Asks for passwords or verification codes
Tells you to keep the situation secret or discourages discussing matters with others
Says you must move your money to a “safe account”

When in doubt: STOP. VERIFY. DON'T SEND.

Take a moment to contact your local law enforcement agency. While a scam may be a new and stressful experience for you, financial scams are a frequent call for service for us. We are here to help you identify suspicious activity and determine your next steps.
