After two successful years the Army Reserve has once again suffered the death (A Mother of two) and severe injury (A sleeping Citizen-Soldier severly wounded by a neighbors neglegence) of its Citizen-Soldiers due to the neglegent discharge of private weapons.

“Bring It Home!” You and your family must have zero tolerance for you own and others lack of discipline and/or proficiency with any firearm.

This accident finished upside down in a creek bed after a rapid skidding deceleration from 75 mph. The conditions were intimately familiar roads, but slick and during a typical heavy Southern rain storm. The mistakes made on the ride home from Battle Assembly included speed, use of cruise control on wet roads and panic breaking at the initial loss of traction.

The Service Member survived with a small scratch on the wrist. He did kick out the side window and both crawl and swim from his vehicle.

Even with all the mistakes up front the Service Member used his seatbelt. The accident was judged to be most likely leathal except for that seatbelt.

The seatbelt. Uncounted saves. You are trained and required to use it.....transfer that Professionalism to your Civilian life and you are more likely to make it home.

Vehicle accidents remain the #1 killer of Army Reserve Citizen-Soldiers away from duty. This head on accident ocuured with an estimated closing speed of 50odd mph, both vehicles traveling in the neighborhood of 25 mph, familiar area, perfect weather, excellent road conditions. Both vehicles were a total loss. Neither driver nor any of the passengers were injured. And the deciding Safety factor for all? Seat belt usage.

Annually, two or more Army Reserve (TPU Not In A Duty Status) vehicle accident fatalities are attributed to failure to use a seatbelt.

Will your Safety Habits earn you a surviveable vehicle accident or an injury or even burial?
