Yesterday, Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery, held a change of command ceremony to honor a significant moment of transition in leadership.

Before the ceremony, Capt. Nicholas F. Taylor took the time to personally recognize Soldiers by awarding them coins for their hard work and accomplishments, a true reflection of his leadership and care for his formation.

The formation proudly stood as we bid farewell to Capt. Taylor, thanking him for his dedicated service, commitment, and steadfast leadership to the Soldiers of Alpha Battery. We also welcomed Capt. Alejandro Gonzalez, who now takes on the responsibility of leading the battery into its next chapter.

Today, the 1st Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery held a change of responsibility ceremony, bidding farewell to Command Sgt. Maj. Cooper and welcoming Command Sgt. Maj. Wiley.

This time honored tradition represents the passing of the Non Commissioned Officer sword, a symbol of leadership, trust, and a continuity of responsibility within the unit.

We thank Command Sgt. Maj. Cooper for his dedicated service, mentorship, and leadership to the Soldiers of 1-7 ADA, and we proudly welcome Command Sgt. Maj. Wiley as he assumes responsibility.

From controlling bleeding to treating injuries under pressure, they showcased discipline, focus, and dedication, reflecting the professionalism and readiness of our formation.

This outstanding team:
SSG Shepard, SGT Jones, PFC Moody, PFC Weatherspoon, and PFC Ayarbah have worked tirelessly to prepare for this moment, showcasing their skill, discipline, and dedication to the mission.

Now, they’re stepping up to compete against the best of the best, and we couldn’t be more proud.

Yesterday, the Soldiers of 1st Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, honored a significant moment of leadership transition during a Change of Responsibility ceremony. We bid farewell to 1SG McCray and thank her for her outstanding service and dedication. We also proudly welcome 1SG Caldwell as the incoming First Sergeant.

Leadership changes, but the mission and excellence continues.

As we bid a sincere farewell to Lt. Col. Lee C. Humphrey, we reflect on the unwavering dedication and impact left on the soldiers, families, and mission. Your leadership will not be forgotten.

We now welcome Lt. Col. Juan F. Rivera with pride and confidence, knowing the battalion remains in capable hands. This transition reminds us that while leaders the strength, resilience, and readiness of 1-7 ADA remain steadfast.
