HERSCHEL WALKER TO VISIT FORT BRAGG- The 1982 Heisman Trophy winner and NFL Star, will be visiting Fort Bragg Friday, Aug. 10.
During Walker's visit he will share his personal story and experience with mental illness while delivering the theme of "There's no shame in asking for help, I did," to Soldiers. Walker will address Soldiers at York Theater from 12:45-1:45 p.m.
Ascend Health Corporation, a TRI-CARE Provider, has an anti-stigma campaign in partnership with Walker, who is an Ascend Health/Freedom Care spokesman, to encourage servicemembers to ask for help for mental health and substance abuse issues. Walker has visited 40 military installations and 13,000 servicemembers, since partnering with Freedom Care in 2008.

Don't forget the Fort Bragg 5k walk/run this Saturday!

Fort Bragg's monthly 5K walk/run is this Saturday at Hedrick Stadium. Due to the summer temperatures, the start time is 8 a.m., an hour earlier than its traditional start. As always, this is a free event with no registration required. Feel free to bring the dog, the stroller and the whole Family.

The USO North Carolina Fort Bragg/Fayetteville center on Fort Bragg is now at the Soldier Support Center. The ribbon cutting ceremony is tomorrow, June 7, at 11 a.m. on the first floor of the SSC in Wing L. A reception will immediately follow the ceremony. The new center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
