During my visit to Camp Kosciuszko in Poznan, Poland, on December 18, 2022, I gave U.S. Army Spc. Seth Chacon of the 97th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade, the special opportunity to award my Chief of Staff of the Army (CSA) coin of excellence to a deserving leader, Master Sgt. Cheyenne Bangle, also of the 89th Military Police Brigade. Together with Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael A. Grinston, we met with local leaders and recognized our outstanding Soldiers stationed in Poland for their continued excellence.

There was a time when duty came before comfort, courage stood taller than fear, and honor was measured not by words but by sacrifice. To every American veteran who answered the call, your devotion to our great nation will forever be remembered. The freedoms we cherish today were preserved by your unwavering commitment to the United States of America. God bless us and God bless America. 🇺🇸

Today, we celebrate 248 years of the United States Army and, most importantly, the Soldiers who have carried this proud legacy forward. For nearly two and a half centuries, our Army has faced challenges, overcome obstacles, and accomplished the impossible because of the strength, courage, and commitment of our Soldiers. The Army’s greatest strength has always been its people. As we gather for the Army Birthday Run/Walk, we recognize not only our history, but also the responsibility we have to those who will serve after us. We must continue to build teams that are disciplined, resilient, and ready to fight and win whenever our Nation calls. To every Soldier, past and present: thank you for your service and for living the Army values every day. Continue to challenge yourself, take care of your teammates, and strive to “Be All You Can Be. Army Strong.
