4th Brigade JROTC

4th Brigade JROTC The U.S. Army Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) is one of the largest character development and citizenship programs for youth in the world.

Welcome to 4th Brigade JROTC's official page on Facebook, where you will find the most recent news stories, videos, photos and upcoming events important to 4th BDE Soldiers, Family members, employees, retirees, veterans and the surrounding community. The National Defense Act of 1916 established organized JROTC programs at public and private educational institutions. In 1964, Congress expanded the

program to all military services and changed from active duty to shared support from the services and schools. As congressionally mandated by Title 10 United States Code, Section 2031, each military service must have a JROTC program to "instill in students in United States secondary educational institutions the values of citizenship, service to the United States, and personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment." JROTC’s mission, "To Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens", is the guide post for the program’s success. Army’s JROTC program currently operates in more than 1,700 public and private high schools, military institutions, and correctional centers throughout the United States and overseas. Approximately 40% of JROTC programs are in inner city schools, serving a student population of 50% minorities. As JROTC students (Cadets) progress through the program, they experience opportunities to lead other Cadets. A major component of the JROTC leadership and citizenship program is female Cadets. Female Cadets make up 40% of the Cadet population. The JROTC faculty is led by nearly 4,000 instructors who are retired from active duty, reserve duty, or National Guard Army service. Instructors are trained and qualified in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act 2007 to teach and mentor approximately 314,000 JROTC Cadets annually.

Hello, friends!!! Dangerous weather is headed our way!!! 🌩️🌪️

We’re looking at a mix of tornados, rain, hail, and high winds! Set sometime aside this evening to get yourself, your Family, and your pets ready.

Tomorrow we will release all service members who are NOT mission essential at 11a.m. Civilians not designated as adverse weather personnel will be released at noon. DoD schools on Fort Bragg will release at 1p.m.

Oh, and, uhhh…tomorrow’s jump is scratched.

Here are a few items to consider for severe weather events in our area:

🌩️Ensure you have a working radio. Are the batteries good?

🌩️Do you have extra batteries for flashlights, radios and other electronics?

🌩️Locate the safest point in your home when under a tornado warning – stay away from outer walls and windows.

🌩️Put away ALL items outside that can become a projectiles. This includes staking down trampolines.

🌩️Consider re-parking if your vehicle is nearby trees or objects that could damage vehicles in high winds.

🌩️Clean gutters and drainage areas and prepare for flooding.

🌩️When driving, remain cautious of high-water areas. Do not underestimate pooling water in roadways.

🌩️Possibility of flooding could cause erosion on roadways and home foundations.

🌩️Turn refrigerators up in the event power is lost. Limit use of the refrigerator to keep food from spoiling.

🌩️Prepare generators. Do not run in garage or inside of home.

🌩️Position flashlights around the house. Did you check the batteries?

🌩️Check your family plan - does everyone know where to go or how to get in touch if separated?

🌩️Go over supplies and shelter kit.

Please continue to monitor this page for updates.

Be safe!

Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. Which of his many inspirational quotes is your favorite?

On April 8, 1968, legislation was introduced providing for a Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Holiday. Since then, has become a day of service wherein Soldiers and civilians alike celebrate by honoring Dr. King with a day of community and humanitarian service. Today is an occasion to remember and celebrate Dr. King's remarkable life and contributions.
