History of the 528th MED DET COSC:
At the time of the Gulf War, the 528th COSC was the only corp level active duty mental health team deployed to Saudi Arabia. From late October 1990 to March 1991, the 528th COSC conducted a total of 514 psychiatric evaluations in theater. The 528th COSC reactivated on December 16, 1992 and on January 6, 1993 the COSC deployed to Somalia ISO Operation Restore Hope
. The 528th COSC assisted with caring for the corp units involved in the1994 Green Ramp MASCAL on Pope AAF. Mental resources were significant for Operation Restore Hope (Somalia) due to large number of unexpected combat casualties, and in Operation Uphold Democracy (Haiti) for unexpected self-inflicted causalities.
