Six stanzas. One standard.

Every Ranger knows the Creed by heart — and if you read the first letter of each paragraph, it spells out exactly who they are: R-A-N-G-E-R.

It’s more than words. It’s a promise. To never fail a comrade. To move further, faster, and fight harder than any other soldier. To never leave a fallen comrade behind. To finish the mission, “though I be the lone survivor.”

You’ll find the full Ranger Creed engraved in stone at the National Ranger Memorial at Fort Benning — standing for every Ranger who has lived it. Swipe to read all six stanzas. 👉

A legacy forged in WWII, carried forward by today's Rangers.

Watch as U.S. Army Maj. Jack Gibson of the 75th Ranger Regiment stands in Normandy to honor the incredible impact of his grandfather, Pfc. (ret.) Jim Shalala.

Serving in the legendary 2nd Ranger Battalion under Col. Rudder, Pfc. Shalala arrived in France in June 1944 to reinforce the lines after D-Day. He went on to earn five bronze stars for his heroic service in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign. 80 years later, that same grit and dedication live on in his grandson.

Even in the age of drones and artificial intelligence, the U.S. Army is proving that nothing replaces the grit and violence of action of a United States Army Ranger.
As reported by the Military Times, candidates hoping to earn the coveted Ranger tab will now start the grueling Ranger School by conquering the brand new Bayonet Assault Course at Fort Benning, Georgia. Before they even reach the infamous Malvesti obstacle course, students must navigate a quarter mile of trenches, walls, and smoke-filled tunnels. Their mission? To go face-to-face with realistic enemy targets, testing their ability to fight at arm’s length and rely on raw fundamentals.

Command Sgt. Maj. Patrick Hartung of the Airborne and Ranger Training Brigade perfectly captured the mindset: “If all technology fails, [Ranger students] will have the fundamentals.”

The National Ranger Memorial Foundation exists to preserve the history, honor the legacy, and celebrate the future of these incredible warriors. From the legendary battlefields of the past to the cutting-edge training of today, Rangers continue to lead the way. It takes a unique breed of soldier to push through the exhaustion of the Ranger Assessment Phase and relentlessly move forward.

Are you or someone you know preparing for Ranger School? What do you think about bringing the bayonet charge to the forefront of modern military training? Sound off in the comments!

Witness the tactical precision and global reach of the United States Army Rangers.

The 4th Ranger Training Battalion executes a flawless Special Patrol Insertion/Extraction System maneuver. Known as SPIES, this advanced military training capability allows a full squad of Soldiers to rapidly deploy or extract from unforgiving environments where standard helicopter landings are impossible.

💪 Age is just a number. The Ranger standard is absolute. For two decades, despite conquering some of the U.S. Army's most demanding training pipelines, one prestigious goal eluded Master Sergeant Jole Alvarez of the 1st Special Forces Group: graduating from Ranger School.

In December 2018, at the age of 42, MSG Alvarez proved that it is never too late to achieve your mission. Enduring the grueling physical and mental gauntlet alongside students nearly twenty years his junior, he pushed through the pain to finally earn his Ranger tab.

His two-decade journey perfectly embodies the very essence of the Ranger Creed:

"Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission..."

A massive testament to perseverance, grit, and the absolute refusal to quit. RLTW! ⚔️
