FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

It is with a heavy heart we confirm one Soldier died as a result of the attack in Kabul yesterday. No further information will be released until 24-hours after next of kin notification is complete.

Statement from Secretary of the Army, Honorable Christine E. Wormuth.

“My heart goes out to the families and friends of the victims of the terrible, cowardly attacks in Kabul. I join all of my fellow DoD leaders in honoring our Service Members’ sacrifice–they gave all for others. Our Army mourns the loss of our Soldier and we are here to support his family and friends. His fellow Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, & Airmen continue their brave mission.”

One of the Graphics I posted shows the family brief in our BN classroom. Because of the amount of people coming it will be on Pomeroy in the stands before turning Blue at 0800.

Just a reminder, I know we're asking you to either be vaccinated or have a negative test to attend the ceremonys. But you will also have to have a mask at the ceremonys.

Family and Friends. Attached are some graphics that should help you navigate your way around on Thursday. If you Pre-Registered with the link from BDE, then you should be able to come on Post at the Sand Hill gate which will make life a lot easier. If not, you will have to go through the Visitor Center and the Main gate. When you get on Sand Hill there will be signs and traffic control to direct you to the right area. There are separate parking lots for C/1-19 and D/2-19. Please make sure you go to the the one for D CO, by the Sand Hill Troop store.

From there, please meet us in the BN Classroom at 0800 for a welcome brief. As you can imagine, two companies just from our BDE will cause a lot of traffic on Sand Hill. Please plan accordingly.

After the Brief we will conduct Turning Blue on Pomeroy together with C/1-19 at 0900. From then you will have a Pass with you Soldiers until 1800 (6pm Eastern). We will go over the authorized place you can go at the brief, but they are the PX/Commissary, Main Post, The NIM, and Uchee Creek Army Camp Ground. Both the NIM and Uchee Creek are just off post and you have to go through a gate but are allowed. If you pre-registered you should be able to come back in those gate. If you went through the Visitor center day of, you will only be able to get in that gate. Again, plan accordingly to get your Soldiers back on time. Uchee Creek is about 30 minutes away when post doesn't have bad traffic.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

*Edit: Main Post is authorized but please stay away from the training areas and ranges.

UPDATE 2: TRADOC approved the Active Duty trainees to take 10 days of leave enroute to their duty station after graduation.

National Guard trainees will be provided a flight home but can pretty much get home however they want after graduation.

Your trainees were briefed on this and will be provided some phone time tonight to help coordinate this.

I appreciate everyone understanding the last minute changes. I will continue to post anymore info as I get it.

06/01/2021

UPDATE: There IS a 4 person limit per trainee. I apologize for the conflicting information.

As of now Im tracking that National Guard Soldiers can travel home with their families if they want to.
