To Friends and Family of Easy Company and Class 25-059.
My name is CPT Aidan Kidd, Company Commander of Easy Company, 3-54 Infantry Battalion, 197th Infantry Brigade. I am your trainee's commander, and I am overall responsible for them as well as the rest of their drill sergeants and cadre.
I would first like to apologize to friends and family of Class 25-059 for not updating the page as was promised in my welcome letter that I hope you received on Day 1. For clarity, due to DoD policies updates we were prevented from posting until policies were updated.
However, now that we’re back up and running, I will be making a weekly / bi-weekly post to give you all a little insight into what your trainee is doing on a weekly basis in regard to their training. I will give a brief explanation of what the trainees completed the previous week with attached pictures, as well as a heads up on what training they have the following week.
I will also ensure to provide you with information, updates, dates, times, locations, etc. on key events such as turning green (the completion of first portion of OSUT, Basic Combat Training, Trainees become Soldiers), and Graduation (completion of the entire OSUT course, Advanced Individual Training portion, Soldiers become Infantrymen).
Currently your trainees are in week 07 out of 22, and in 3 weeks time (pending they have met the necessary requirements) will turn green and officially be considered Soldiers at that point. At this point the trainees have completed an intensive 4 week progression of rifle marksmanship in which your trainees have qualified on their individually assigned weapon system, M4 Carbine. They were also familiarized with what it’s like to fire live rounds at night utilizing a night vision device. The week will finish with the completion of their Buddy Team Live Fire Exercise where trainees apply the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship and individual movement techniques to negotiate a lane as a two pair battle buddy team.
Moving forward I will try to push out as many photos and information to you as possible. All that I ask is to please be mindful-- I'm the only one that has access to post on this page, and the high demands of my position require me to be in multiple places at once, take care of your trainees and my drill sergeants, plan for future classes, and execute the training events on a daily basis. As you can imagine, the addition of managing a page, and having the ability to respond to families of a class size of 231 is extremely challenging. That said I will do my best, but please do not take it personally if I don't respond to your comments. If there is an extenuating circumstance or emergency with your trainee, the facebook group is not the place to reach us. Please use the information provided in the welcome letter if there is a serious issue.
Thank you so much for your time, and if you have any questions please comment and like I said I will do my best to address them by either responding or in my next post to the rest of the group. Following this post will be another post addressing information regarding the Turning Green Ceremony.
Thank you!
Best Regards,
CPT Aidan C Kidd
Easy Company Commander
