Winter Storm Outlook for January 23 through 25, 2026 🌨️

A large, long-duration winter storm is expected to impact much of the Southern Plains, Mid-South, Mid-Atlantic, and New England with heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Significant ice and snow accumulation could cause widespread power outages and hazardous travel. ❄️

Several Army Reserve locations may be affected. Travel disruptions, utility outages, and a dangerous cold are likely, so please take precautions and prepare for possible impacts.

With winter comes colder weather, slick surfaces, and busy holiday activities, all of which can increase the chance of accidents and fires.

❄️ Christmas lights and ladder safety:
Check lights for frayed wires or damaged bulbs before hanging. Use lights rated for outdoor use. When using ladders, make sure they are stable, on level ground, and have someone spot you if possible. Avoid overreaching or standing on the top rung.

❄️ Driving in cold and wet conditions:
Slow down on icy or rainy roads. Keep extra distance between vehicles. Make sure windshield wipers, tires, and lights are in good condition. Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle.

❄️ Fire hazards from Christmas trees:
Keep real trees watered to prevent dryness. Place trees at least 3 feet from heat sources. Turn off lights when leaving the house or going to bed. Check artificial trees for frayed wires or broken lights. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby in case of emergencies.

❄️ Check on others:
Look out for elderly neighbors, children, and pets during extreme cold or bad weather. Help ensure their walkways are cleared and safe.

We wrapped up Battle Assembly weekend with a Family Day celebration and holiday party. We appreciate the 776 Field Feeding Team's hard work in preparing our holiday meal. Soldiers invited family members to join in multiple games, dancing, and festivities. Santa even made a special appearance.

We were visited by our 310th Command Team, who also participated in the celebration.

The 55th is appreciative of the families and their continued support of their military members.

We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. ⭐️⭐️

It’s not just the beginning of a new month... it’s the beginning of Military Family Month!

For all of America, it’s a chance to honor and appreciate our unsung heroes: military Families.

If you’re part of a military Family, thank you for the service of your loved one β€” and for your service, too. We salute your sacrifice and recognize that it’s not easy to thrive through deployments, moves, overseas life, and other challenges.

Military Families set an incredible example of strength and resilience. We honor you today and every day!
