The Monroe County Board of Commissioners will hold its next regularly scheduled meeting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 in the normal meeting room on the 3rd floor of the Monroe County Administration Building. Items scheduled to be discussed on Tuesday include:
Proclamation for Men’s Health Month – Commission Chairman Alan Gibbs will read a proclamation recognizing June 2026 as Men’s Health Month in Monroe County to commemorate National Men’s Health Week, which is a nationwide initiative to educate men about the importance of preventative health screenings, early detection, and healthy lifestyles.
Deputy Chief Josh Wagner-Professional Certified Emergency Manager – Monroe County Emergency Services (MCES) and Georgia Emergency Management Association officials will present MCES Deputy Chief Josh Wagner with his Professional Certified Emergency Manager Certification.
Animal Control Manager Introductions – County Manager Lorri Byrd will introduce Monroe County’s new Animal Services Manager, Jennifer McGettigan. McGettigan has more than 17 years of experience in Animal Services, having previously served in the same capacity in Jones County.
FY2025 Final Budget Amendment – Monroe County Finance Director Angie Sorrow will present a final budget amendment for 2025 to complete all necessary 2025 audit requirements for the Georgia Department of Revenue.
Ray Hartley Road Water Line Easement – County Attorney Ben Vaughn will present a utility easement agreement between Oglethorpe Power and Monroe County that grants Monroe County access to the future water line along Ray Hartley Road for its construction, maintenance, and operation. Oglethorpe Power will pay for the construction of the water line with Monroe County responsible for maintaining it once it’s completed.
UDO-Road Requirements Discussion – Monroe County Community Development Director Kelsey Fortner will discuss possible updates to road requirements within the county’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO).
UDO-Accessory Dwelling Unit Clarification – Monroe County Community Development Director Kelsey Fortner will discuss possible updates to accessory dwelling unit (ADU) requirements within the county’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO).
