Popcorn Park Animal Refuge was established in 1977 for the sole purpose of providing a refuge for wildlife that were sick, elderly, abandoned, abused, or injured, and which c

ould no longer survive in its natural habitat. All our residents once faced these circumstances, as well as exploitation and illegal ownership. You may be greeted at the gate by a parade of peacocks, around the corner you’ll see African lions, tigers, mountain lions, primates as well as native wildlife such as white-tailed and fallow deer, and American black bears. Farm animals such as horses, donkeys, llamas, sheep, pigs and goats often look for some visitors, and reptiles and tortoises enjoy their own special places. In addition, you'll find numerous species of birds have made themselves comfortable throughout the park. But what makes Popcorn Park so special is that each animal was rescued from suffering, exploitation and/or death - each has its own unique story to tell.

Help Iris and Raz build a home built for their future 🦉🦅💛

Our current hawk and owl enclosure has provided Iris and Raz with a home for years, but it’s time for an upgrade.

Iris, our Eurasian eagle owl, is only 10 years old and could live well into her 60s. Raz, our red-tailed hawk, could have many years ahead of her as well. We want to give these two girls a safe, spacious, and enriching place to live out the rest of their lives.

A new aviary would provide Iris and Raz with the improved habitat they deserve while also creating a safer environment for the dedicated keepers who care for them every day.

Next Sunday, join us for Yoga at Popcorn Park Animal Refuge! Spend an hour moving, stretching, and unwinding surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the refuge, all while supporting the animals who call it home. 🤍

No experience necessary, just bring your mat and come ready to relax! Your $20 ticket includes an hour of yoga plus admission to explore the refuge afterward.

Welcome to the Iguana Cabana! 🦎💚
 
For National Iguana Awareness Day, we’re celebrating some of the many iguanas who call Popcorn Park home!

Iguanas are often purchased by well-intentioned people who may not realize just how much specialized care they require. As they grow, they need plenty of space, proper heat and lighting, a nutritious diet, and a commitment that can last for many years.
 
Here at Popcorn Park, we do our best to provide every one of our iguanas with the specialized care and enriching habitats they need to thrive. 🥬☀️
 
Godzilla, Sassafras, Palmer, and all of their friends are safe, loved, and right at home here with us. 💚

Buddha may not be new to Popcorn Park, but we’ll never get over how adorable he is 🥹🦨

Our lavender skunk is one of our education ambassadors, helping us teach others about skunks and the specialized care exotic animals require. His unique silvery-white coloring is caused by leucism, which is why he has those beautiful dark eyes 👀

He may look like a little stuffed animal, but Buddha is very much his own little guy, with plenty of personality and an even bigger love for snacks 🤭🦨

What a way to spend the last saturday of summer vacation ☀️🥹💛

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Summer Send-Off! The day was filled with animal talks featuring Squatter and Buddha, enrichment demonstrations with Iris and Raz, and more opportunities to learn from Bonnie and Skittles.

We hope everyone who spent the day with us had as much fun as we did! 🦨🐍🦜💛

The babies have arrived! 🥹🦚
 
Peafowl have been a staple at Popcorn Park for years, beginning with our very first peacock who arrived after being found wandering astray. Since then, our free-roaming flock has grown, and now these beautiful birds can be spotted strolling throughout the refuge, perching in the trees, and keeping visitors on their toes!
 
And now, we have some new little faces joining the flock. 💙🦚
