🏡 What a meaningful day of collaboration and conversation!

On Saturday, June 27, Develop Clayton was proud to participate in the Homeownership Summit at Clayton State University, where community leaders, housing professionals, lenders, and residents came together to explore solutions that expand access to affordable homeownership.

The summit provided valuable resources, expert insights, and meaningful discussions focused on breaking down barriers to homeownership and creating stronger pathways to housing stability and generational wealth for families throughout Clayton County.

🏠 Housing Matters: Federal Funding Decisions Impact Communities

The House Appropriations Committee has advanced the FY2027 HUD spending bill, which proposes more than an 8% reduction in funding for housing programs compared to FY2026.

While the proposal preserves important programs such as HOME, Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), and Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA), advocates have raised concerns about significant reductions to:

🔹 Rental Assistance Programs
🔹 Public Housing Funding
🔹 Homelessness Services
🔹 Fair Housing Enforcement
🔹 Eviction Prevention Efforts

Housing organizations across the country warn that these cuts could increase housing instability, place additional strain on public housing agencies, and make it more difficult for families to access safe, affordable housing.
