For my Forest Hills Friends and Neighbors.

PLEASE NOTE: Barricades will block Sharon Drive from Filmore Road to Pacific Avenue, and Cascade Road from Bevington Road to Lamar Road because of the high traffic of children in those two areas.
Police, Forest Hills Volunteer Fire Department and Woodland Hills EMS will be out Halloween Night as well.
Please be safe and please DRIVE CAREFULLY.
Let trick or treaters know you have candy by turning on your porch light.

The Allegheny County Department of Public Works announced that Penn Avenue Extension in Wilkins and Turtle Creek will close between Aliquippa Street and the Tri-Boro Expressway (Route 130) starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025. The closure is expected to end in October 2025. Residents living within the closure area will have access to the homes at all times.

Dear Forest Hills Residents,
We’d like to provide an update on the ongoing power restoration and storm recovery efforts throughout Forest Hills Borough.
Approximately 85% of the Borough has had power restored by Duquesne Light Company (DLC). Unfortunately, about 15% of our community remains without power, and we are awaiting further action from DLC to address those areas. Our DPW has removed every tree possible at this point and can only clear areas where the lines are deemed dead and have been removed by DLC.
Most of the downed power lines have now been cleared, though a few still remain. Once these remaining lines are safely removed, DLC crews will begin replacing utility poles, restoring transformers, and re-stringing power lines where needed.
If your service line was pulled away from your home, please be aware that homeowners are responsible for having it reattached to the structure. DLC will restore power from the pole to the weatherhead (the connection point at your home), but private repairs may be needed beyond that.
Our Forest Hills Volunteer Fire Department and Police Department continue to monitor areas with downed lines and blocked roads, and they are actively providing updates to Duquesne Light.
⚠️ Please stay away from all downed power lines—they remain dangerous, even if they appear inactive.
To assist with storm cleanup, a large dumpster will be placed Monday in the parking lot across from the Westinghouse Recreation Center, located at 799 Barclay Avenue, Forest Hills, PA 15221. This dumpster is available for excess garbage and spoiled food resulting from the outage.

The aftermath of the storm has left a significant mark on Forest Hills Borough.

I had an opportunity to chat with residents and survey damage in the Borough.

These images are just a small example of the widespread damage caused by high winds and fallen trees. We understand how difficult this situation is for many of our residents.

Please be assured that Forest Hills Borough is working closely with Duquesne Light to clear trees and debris from roadways and to restore power as quickly as possible.

A big thank you goes out to the Forest Hills Police Department, Forest Hills, volunteer fire department, and Forest Hills Public Works for all the hard work they’ve been putting in these past few days. Also a big thank you to Duquesne Light Company who have been working around the clock to restore power in Forest Hills.

EMERGENCY ALERT – STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED
Mayor Frank Porco has declared a State of Emergency for the Borough of Forest Hills effective April 29, 2025, due to the severe storm that caused widespread damage.

What You Need to Know:

The storm has downed numerous trees and power lines throughout the Borough.
Power lines may still be energized — STAY AWAY for your safety.
Please limit all travel to ESSENTIAL purposes only until further notice.
Traffic signals are out along Ardmore Blvd (Route 30), making intersections especially dangerous.
Duquesne Light has reported over 1,800 outages in the area and is working to restore power — please be patient.
The Forest Hills Police Department, Volunteer Fire Department, and Department of Public Works are actively working to clear roads and remove debris.
We are asking all residents to use caution, stay informed through official Borough channels, and check on neighbors when it is safe to do so.

We thank you for your cooperation as we respond to and recover from this emergency.
