Today is National Get Ready Day, which falls in the middle of National Emergency Preparedness Month. To celebrate, DES is encouraging families to think about what they would need in case of a natural disaster, pandemic illness or other crisis.
1. Create an emergency plan – have evacuation routes if you need to leave your home quickly, and establish a meeting place nearby.
2. Pack emergency kits, one for staying at home for an extended period and one for leaving quickly. Don’t forget children and pets.
3. Sign up for our virtual discussion of emergency preparedness and guide to putting together your emergency kits. It’s at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Register here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A4EAFAD2BA4FCC61-65583798-emergency?
Join Harford County Emergency Management Division Chief John Richter live for an online seminar at 2 p.m. September 23 as he talks about being prepared for an emergency.
