🎮 PROFICIENCY = PLAY TIME! 🕹️

Today, we celebrated some of our highest-achieving Bulldogs with a reward trip to Wayback Arcade in Pineville!

Students who demonstrated proficiency across all tested areas last year earned an invitation:
⭐ LEAP: Mastery or Advanced on all four assessments
⭐ ELPT: Scores of 4 or 5 across all four domains

Their hard work paid off with a day of games, fun, and a well-earned celebration! We’re proud of these Bulldogs for setting the bar high and showing what they can accomplish! 💚🐾

Mrs. McLeod’s 6th grade scientists are exploring how populations within ecosystems change! Students used cause-and-effect cards to investigate how living and nonliving factors, including competition and predation, can impact populations.

✈️ Innovation in Action!

This week in Innovation, our students took their ideas from the planning stage to the testing stage as they built their own flying machines!

Their challenge: Design a machine that could travel down a zip line while keeping Rosie safely inside. There was one catch… their building materials were limited! Students could only use:
📄 1 piece of construction paper
📏 2 feet of tape
➰ 6 pipe cleaners
🪵 4 popsicle sticks

Then it was time to put their designs to the test!

We loved watching their ideas move from plans on paper to real creations! Challenges like this give our students opportunities to think creatively, problem-solve, test their ideas, and learn from the results. 🔥

🎉 Hard Work Deserves a Celebration! 🎉

This week, we celebrated our Bulldogs who earned LEAP and ELPT rewards based on their achievement and growth from last school year!

Students enjoyed three special rewards throughout the week:
🍫 A visit to the Snack Cart
💦 A Waterslide Celebration
☕ A special treat from Caffeinated

These celebrations are about more than test scores. They recognize the effort, persistence, and growth our students showed throughout the year. We are proud of our Bulldogs for continuing to challenge themselves and show what they can accomplish!

🔥 Together Tuesday at FHJH! 🔥

Today was all about celebrating what makes Forest Hill Junior High special: our students, our growth, and our community!

We started the morning by welcoming some familiar faces from our community for Together Tuesday, an initiative designed to strengthen the connection between our schools and the communities they serve. A special thank you to Mayor Ann Jeter, the Town of Forest Hill, Forest Hill Fire Department, Forest Hill Police Department, and School Board Member George Johnson for spending part of your morning with our Bulldogs. We appreciate your continued support of FHJH!

Later, our Bulldogs gathered in the gym for our schoolwide assembly. We celebrated the DIBELS achievement and growth our students showed last year, recognized our September House Heroes, and put a few House points on the line with a very competitive game of Hula Hoop Pass!

Whether we’re celebrating academic growth, recognizing students who live out our core values, or just having a little friendly House competition, we’re continuing to spark purpose, fuel growth, and light the way at FHJH. 🔥

Thank you to everyone who helped make today a great Together Tuesday!
