The Town of Forest City lifts the boil water advisory after required sampling and testing verified the water to be safe.

NC DEQ Asheville Regional Office was contacted about the boil water advisory. Town staff collected samples from the distribution system for the required testing.

05/31/2026

The Town of Forest City Water Department has issued a Boil Water Advisory on May 30, 2026 for all customers.

As a result of the water main break and subsequent repair work, water service interruptions and periods of low or no water pressure have occurred. When water pressure drops below acceptable levels, there is an increased risk that contaminants could enter the water distribution system.

This advisory is expected to remain in effect for 24 hours until all sampling is completed. The advisory is expected to be lifted at 3:30pm on May 31, 2026. Customers will be notified when the advisory is lifted and the water is confirmed safe for normal use.

As a precaution, customers are advised to:

* Boil all water used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and preparing food.

* Bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute, then allow it to cool before use.

* Alternatively, use bottled water for consumption and food preparation.
