Water System Improvement Project Update

Phase 1 – Water Tower
Great news! The construction of the new water tower is now complete, with only the installation of the warning beacon on top remaining. Once the Louisiana Department of Health (DHH) completes their inspection and water sample testing, the tower will be fully operational.

Phase 2 – Water Line Replacement & Meter Installation

In approximately two weeks, we will begin the water line replacement and new water meter installation project. This is a major 12-month undertaking that will significantly upgrade our water infrastructure. This work will be done by a contractor.

• The 8-inch main line running from the water tower to the water well by Hwy 81 (and north of Hwy 81) will be replaced.
• New water meters will be installed throughout the entire town.
• Work will start on the north end of town for the line replacement while meter installation begins simultaneously on the south end.

This entire project represents a huge improvement for our water system at zero cost to the town.

Important Information for Residents:
Once the new water meters are installed, we will conduct a usage study for a minimum of 2 months. The base monthly rate will remain at $32. Any usage above the base amount will be charged according to standard metered rates, just like other towns.

If the construction schedule stays on track, the new metered billing system is expected to begin in the first quarter of next year.
