Came across this old Fordland Rodeo flyer from 1982, and just like that, I was transported back. I can almost smell the hot dogs, hear the crowd buzzing, and see the bugs circling those bright arena lights. Those were the days—running around with your buddies, making memories without a care in the world. Simpler times. Free times. The kind you didn’t realize were the good old days until they were gone.

If there was one thing Mrs. Violet Hensley knew how to do, it was bring a little joy wherever she went. It was always such a pleasure to run across her at Silver Dollar City!

Violet Hensley, a Silver Dollar City legend known as the ‘Whittlin’ Fiddler,’ has died. She was 109.
