Ford City Hose Co. #1

Ford City Hose Co. #1 Ford City Hose Co. #1 was established to protect the residents and property of Ford City Borough. Ford in 1887. The P.P.G.

Along the banks of the Allegheny River lies the town of Ford City, Pennsylvania, a town founded by Captain John B. Captain Ford built the Pittsburgh Plate Glass factory, located within the Borough, which supplied the primary fire protection to the residents of Ford City. fire department consisted of a 13-man brigade highly trained in fire prevention and fire fighting techniques. The fire departmen

t boasted over 800 pieces of fire suppression equipment, including hundreds of extinguishers and pull stations located throughout Works Four, Works Six, and Shop Two of the Ford City plant. The company averaged six to twelve small fires a year, which were quickly extinguished with no major disruption to the daily working of the plant. As the town increased in size, it became obvious that there was a need for increased fire protection within the Borough, which would be met by the members of Ford City Hose Company No. 1. On the night of December 20, 1900, a group of men met in session as Hose Company No.1 of Ford City, Pennsylvania, thus beginning our 121-year history.

Thank you to the National Volunteer Fire Council and Anheuser-Busch for the pallet donation of water to our department.

This water is a vital necessity and will be used during trainings, calls, and will also be distributed to mutual aid departments to help keep them hydrated.

Anheuser-Busch partnered with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) in 2019 to create the Emergency Drinking Water for Wildland Firefighters program. Keeping firefighters hydrated during long incidents or disasters such as wildfires is a critical need for fire departments. Anheuser-Busch will donate 1.5 million cans of clean drinking water in 2026 to prepare local volunteer firefighters with vital resources ahead of the annual summer wildfire season.
