Everyone had a blast last week for our May Creativebug Club meetup in the Idea Studio. Last week Stephanie showed a variety of her mixed media and collage art to everyone and shared some videos and reels of other artists work that inspire her.
We talked a little bit about Creativebug and how you can access the website for free through the fdlpl.org site and how easy it is to look up videos and to follow along on Creativebug. We we're having so much fun that Stephanie forgot to get a picture of everyone's collages before they left.
If you like collage or are interested in trying it out for yourself, please feel free to stop into the Idea Studio during our open hours (Monday-Thursday 3-8 pm, Friday 3-6 pm & Saturday's noon-4 pm) to use our supplies to make your own collages!!!! We have a wide variety of old magazines that can be cut up, a large bin of a wide variety of paper ephemera, scrapbook paper, scissors, glue and so much more.
The next Creativebug Club for June will be held on Wednesday June 24th from 6-7:45 pm. In June, Stephanie will teach everyone about the history and process of making cyanotypes. Cyanotypes are produced by coating either fabric or paper with a special mixture of chemicals and left to dry in a dark room. Once dry, all sorts of different objects can be arranged onto the fabric/paper and placed in the sun or under a UV lamp. Since we will be doing this at night, we will use some UV lights and a box to expose our cyanotypes. After exposing the paper/ fabric under UV light for a set amount of time, the paper/ fabric gets rinsed out, which will fix the print, so it no longer exposes under UV light. Then you will have a blue and white print when finished. Space is limited, so please visit our calendar to sign up for your spot today. This event is open to patrons 13 years and older.
