Science in Action!

Today, our 8th grade scientists got to use our new PASCO Carts to investigate collisions! Students explored the question:

“What causes changes in the motion and shape of colliding objects?”

Students designed and conducted investigations, collected data, and used their evidence to support and refine their ideas about what happens during a collision. They were putting science into action—testing ideas, analyzing data, and figuring things out together!

The PASCO Carts are a fantastic new addition to our OpenSciEd 8.1 Contact Forces unit and give students a hands-on way to collect real data and deepen their understanding of collisions.

So exciting to see our students doing the work of scientists and engineers!

Last week, curiosity was at work in sixth-grade science! During our phenomena lab, students explored different phenomena and recorded their “notices” and “wonders”—what they observed and the questions those observations sparked. These young scientists practiced looking closely, thinking deeply, and asking questions to guide their learning!
