Thank you to everyone who came to support our Annual Campaign Kickoff!

Four-time Super Bowl champion Rocky Bleier shared his story of his resiliency, drafted by the Steelers, then drafted again by the U.S. Army, wounded in Vietnam, and told he'd never play football again. He played twelve seasons. Rocky, thank you for your service and for spending your afternoon with us.

Last year, Baldwin County gave $745,437. That money funded 33 partner agencies serving 55,700 of our neighbors. This year our goal is $800,000!

We also introduced Women United — a new initiative for ALICE families across Baldwin County. ALICE is Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed: the family that works, sometimes two or three jobs, and still can't cover the basics when the transmission goes out or the hospital bill arrives. In Baldwin County, 39% of households are ALICE, and 83% of those are led by a single woman. Twenty-five founding members have already stepped up and raised $13,500. We're looking for 100.

Early Bird Tickets for the 2026 Annual Campaign Kickoff Luncheon are no longer available!

But don't worry, you can still purchase tickets to attend and hear from 4x Super Bowl Champion and Vietnam Veteran Rocky Bleier!

Just as Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rocky Bleier was about to wrap up his rookie season in 1968, a teammate called him over to the table the team reserved for fan mail. The former Notre Dame standout was surprised. He was not a high NFL draft pick or a well-known player and, in a few months with the team, had yet to receive any letters of support.

When he opened the envelope, though, he realized that was still the case: In his hand was a notification that he had been drafted by the U.S. Army, which was immersed in the Vietnam War. He was due to report the next day. In combat the next year, he suffered grisly injuries that would reshape his life, but improbably, not nudge him off course.

The football player turned soldier turned injured veteran fought his way back to a professional football career that spanned more than a decade. In turn, he has used that story to inspire countless others not to yield in the most difficult circumstances, and he has donated time and energy to helping veterans like him reacclimate to the jarringly different lives they faced when they returned home.

In response to ongoing extreme heat conditions, Baldwin County, AL Commission is opening a Cooling Center in City of Foley Municipal Government that will be open for public use on Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m., until 8 p.m.

It will be located at St. Paul's Episcopal Church - Parish Hall at 506 N. Pine Street Foley, Alabama.

A Heat Advisory is in effect today for the entire area, with heat index values projected between 108 F - 112 F. The advisory extends into Tuesday, with an Excessive Heat Watch for coastal areas where heat index values may reach 110 F - 115 F.

For additional information about the Cooling Center, community members should call 251-256-8202.

Along with the Cooling Center, Sea Glass Initiative Inc. has hot weather supplies. Please contact them at 251-332-3442 if you are in need of assistance.
