🚨 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE 🚨
Due to a power pole that was damaged during yesterday’s severe weather, low-lying power lines are creating a hazard at North Flowood Drive at the intersection of Lakeland Drive.

⚠️ North Flowood Drive will remain closed at this location until approximately noon today or later, depending on when the power lines can be safely addressed.
For access to Wendy’s and Mister Car Wash, please use Pin Oak Drive.
Please use caution in the area and allow extra time for an alternate route.

We appreciate everyone’s patience while crews work to make the area safe.

Starting today and continuing through September 7, 2026, our officers will be out in full force looking for impaired drivers. Plan ahead to have a designated driver or a ride service scheduled in order to avoid having to take a ride with us.

Heroes Among Us

At last night’s Board of Aldermen meeting, the City of Flowood had the privilege of recognizing two citizens of our community, Paul Becker and Joshua Griffin, for their extraordinary courage and selflessness.

Last week, following a serious accident on Airport Road, Paul and Joshua acted without hesitation to rescue a 17-year-old young man from a vehicle that quickly became engulfed in flames. Their willingness to put themselves in harm’s way exemplifies the very best of our community.

A special thank you to Sergeant Westbrooks for leading the effort to identify and locate these heroes, so they could be recognized for their remarkable actions.

In today’s digital world, it’s more important than ever to stay informed about the latest online threats affecting our youth. This free presentation will cover current social media trends, online safety concerns, and steps that parents can take to help protect their children.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On July 15, 2026
Officers with the Flowood Police Department received reports that a female suspect had stolen merchandise from Walmart and fled the scene driving a Kia Soul with a male passenger.
The suspect vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed resulted in a three vehicle crash at the intersection of Old Fannin Road and Flowood Drive. Both occupants of the Kia were transported to local medical facilities for evaluation. Fortunately, no occupants of the other two vehicles involved in the crash sustained any injuries.
The female driver is being charged with Shoplifting and Felony Fleeing. However, the incident remains under investigation, and additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses.
We appreciate the patience and cooperation of those affected by the temporary traffic disruption while emergency personnel responded to the scene.

All Dogwood entrances are now open

🚧 Traffic Advisory

Starting at 7:00 a.m. today, the Dogwood Mall entrance at East Metro Parkway and Mackenzie Lane will be closed for paving. The southbound left turn lane and northbound right turn lane into the mall will also be closed.
Please use Dogwood Festival or Dogwood Avenue to access the mall.
This project is expected to be completed by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10.
Please use caution and expect minor traffic delays.
