Today, the City of Flowood joins our nation in marking 25 years since September 11, 2001.

We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, honor the first responders and heroes who answered the call, and reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and unity shown by Americans in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

Twenty-five years later, we remain united in remembrance. We will never forget.

🚨 WATER PRESSURE ADVISORY 🚨

The Flowood Water Department is aware of reports of low water pressure or no water pressure affecting residents in the Farmington, Avalon, Regatta, and surrounding areas.

There is a possible main water leak near 401 Mainsail Way; however, the exact location and cause have not yet been confirmed by the water department.

The water company has been notified and currently has personnel en route to investigate the issue and make any necessary repairs.

We understand the inconvenience this may cause and ask residents for patience while crews work to identify and resolve the problem.

We will provide additional information as it becomes available.

In 2026, an estimated 9,680 children in the United States will be diagnosed with cancer, according to the American Cancer Society. 🎗️

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and in a show of support for the children and families impacted by childhood cancer, City of Flowood employees wore gold to help raise awareness.

This month and always, we stand with the fighters, survivors, families, and all those impacted by childhood cancer. 💛

🐾 NATIONAL DOG DAY: Flowood Police Department Edition 🐾

They track. They apprehend. They sniff out narcotics. They protect Flowood. They also demand belly rubs, bark just to remind everyone they’re alive, and have been known to consider a water bowl a perfectly acceptable chew toy.

Meet two of the goodest boys at the Flowood Police Department: K-9 Odin and K-9 Clyde! 💙

•••

🐕 K-9 ODIN
At 6 years old, Odin has served alongside Officer Tim Covington for four years. This Belgian Malinois was born in the Netherlands, responds primarily to commands in Dutch, and is trained in narcotics detection, tracking, and apprehension.

When Officer Covington puts on the uniform, Odin knows it’s time to work. Off duty? He’s surprisingly gentle and happiest exploring the pasture, playing around the house, or randomly throwing himself onto the floor, feet in the air, to request a belly rub.

His favorite treat? TOY. Specifically, his Kong.
His personality? Serious.
His favorite person? Officer Covington.

•••

🐶 K-9 CLYDE
Four-year-old Clyde has served alongside Officer Kelon Dill for three years as one of Flowood PD’s trackers. Put on his harness and Clyde knows it’s go-time. Take it off, and his priorities become considerably simpler: sleep, eat, repeat.

Clyde comes from a champion bloodline of Bloodhounds who compete nationally. His own interests include Vienna sausages, barking his way down Lakeland Drive, and chewing on just about anything available.
Bucket? Sure.
Water bowl? Absolutely.
Dog house? Apparently.

He’s also mastered the art of sitting in his pen with the sweetest puppy-dog eyes, waiting for someone to come close enough to say hello...and then unleashing the hound.

And yes, he slobbers. A lot. But we’ll give him a pass on that one: the moisture around a Bloodhound’s nose and mouth actually helps capture and retain scent particles while tracking.

•••

After spending the morning with these two, our official findings are as follows:
Odin: Good boy. ✅
Clyde: Good boy. ✅

Happy to two four-legged members of the Flowood Police Department who work hard, play hard, and keep plenty of belly rubs on the schedule. 🐾💙
