Auxiliary, Flotilla 29
Lake Lanier, GA Flotilla 29 has been operational since the early 1960s.

We are a part of the Southeast District, made up of seven flotillas throughout middle and north Georgia. We work in the local area to improve boating safety and we also serve with active duty Coast Guard units in Georgia and throughout the U.S. Members make their contributions to the success of the flotilla by becoming qualified in one or more areas in which they best fit, according to their own p

references and skills. Members put in varying numbers of hours based on their own schedule and interest areas. Many hours are spent in Coast Guard training. In addition, civilian skills are utilized in many areas to accomplish our missions. Auxiliary members proudly wear the uniform of the United States Coast Guard and comprise the largest uniformed volunteer organization in the world.

Super Bowl? Nah, cold weather patrol!

Our boat crew hit the water this morning ahead of the big game, to get some search and rescue training time in case the other team goes underwater… we’re “always ready” to come in tow.

You could say we’re hullariously punny 😉 🌊 ⚓️

09.11.2001 ~ Never Forget ~ 🇺🇸

Today, we remember the 2,977 lives lost and the hundreds more who have since lost their lives as a result of injury's and illnesses associated with the attacks. The deepest amount of gratitude goes out to all who answered the call to serve that day and all who have answered the call to service to our nation in the 24 years since.

May we never cease to remember the sacrifices endured and given by those that day, and the way that Americans unified as one in the midst of loss, and horror, as attack fell upon them.

President George W. Bush, stated in the harrowing moments following the collapse of the North and South towers of the WTC, 09.11.2001:

“Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.”

Proud Traditions. Worthy Missions.

As you head out on the water this Labor Day weekend, keep these top safety tips in mind to keep you and your loved ones safe. 🛟

Wear your lifejacket: When you are out on the water, a lifejacket is not just a safety precaution, it’s a lifesaver. The best lifejacket is the one you wear – they come in many different types, styles, and sizes! 🦺

Boat responsibly: Boating under the influence is the single greatest contributing factor of recreational boating fatalities – think before you drink. 👎

Know where you’re going and travel at safe speeds: Be familiar with the area, local boating speed zones, and always travel at a safe speed, especially at night or in reduced visibility. 🐌

File a float plan: Always let someone on shore know the trip itinerary, including operator and passenger information, boat type and registration, and communication equipment on board. Send them a picture of the boat, too. 📸

Watch the weather: Always check the forecast before departing on the water and frequently while underway. Follow local weather advisories from US National Weather Service New York NY and other sources. 🌩️

Keep in touch: Have more than one communication device that works when wet. VHF radios, emergency locator beacons, satellite phones, and cell phones with GPS technology can all be important devices in an emergency. 🎙️
