Peters Colony Memorial Park is officially open! 🌳👏 Thank you to everyone who joined us for last night’s ribbon cutting and to all who played a role in bringing this beautiful park to life. Designed as a tribute to past, present, and future residents, the park (at 3201 Peters Colony Rd., adjacent to the Flower Mound Public Library) is truly a unique addition to Flower Mound.

We must also give a special thank you to Flower Mound centenarian Doug Brown for his many years of service to the community. 🇺🇸 It was a privilege to have him in attendance as we dedicated the Chief Warrant Officer Douglas A. Brown Veterans Plaza in recognition of his service.

If you haven’t visited yet, make sure to add a visit to the park to your weekend plans! Please note, park contractors will be completing some finishing touches over the month, so don’t worry if you see work happening; the park is open!

The Town of Flower Mound has once again earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its budget beginning Oct. 1, 2025. 🏆 This is the 34th consecutive year that the Town has received this award, which reflects the commitment of Flower Mound’s leadership and staff to meet the highest principal of governmental budgeting. The award specifically represents a significant achievement by staff members in Flower Mound’s Budget & Strategy and Finance departments, who had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines in four key categories to receive the award.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this legacy of excellence over the past 34 years!

You’re invited to join us for a special ribbon cutting and grand opening of Peters Colony Memorial Park on Thursday, June 11! 🌳💚 The 3.3-acre park at 3201 Peters Colony Rd., just west of the Flower Mound Public Library, was designed as a specialty park honoring past, present, and future residents. Head to the park at 6 p.m. to hear from guest speakers, experience the new park amenities, and celebrate the dedication of the Chief Warrant Officer Douglas A. Brown Veterans Plaza.

The plaza honors Flower Mound centenarian Doug Brown, who has spent his life in service to our country and this community. Brown began his military service during World War II, enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corps and flying in B-25s and A-26s. He later joined the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps in 1948 and was stationed around the world, including Italy, Germany, and France, before retiring from the Army in 1966. For more than 35 years, Doug has dedicated himself to serving Flower Mound through volunteer work, and his many honors include the Governor’s Volunteer Award in 2019 and Flower Mound’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020.

In addition to the Chief Warrant Officer Douglas A. Brown Veterans Plaza, Peters Colony Memorial Park includes free-standing legacy and memorial elements, an educational water feature, native landscaping, nature-inspired playground equipment, and trails and pedestrian pathways with access to the Flower Mound Public Library.
