This morning, 25 years after the terrorist attack of Sept. 11, 2001, our community gathered to remember the lives lost, recognize the heroes, and honor those who came together to rebuild in the aftermath. We will never forget.

Thank you to the Edward S. Marcus High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AFJROTC), Flower Mound Fire Department, Flower Mound Police Department, Highland Village Fire Department, and Lewisville ISD for once again hosting this ceremony.

Flower Mound Municipal Court just launched a new Teen Talks program! 🗣️ In partnership with Lewisville Municipal Court and Lewisville-Flower Mound Youth Services, these monthly talks focus on topics related to juveniles and the law. Each session features presentations, videos, and conversations with subject matter experts.

The first Teen Talk is in one week on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Titled, “Youth Empowerment: Recognizing Abuse and Protecting Yourself,” Lewisville Police Detective Liz Rollins will discuss topics related to recognizing abuse, understanding boundaries and the law, and knowing how to protect yourself and others. This session is at Lewisville Municipal Court, 1197 W. Main Street in Lewisville.

Join us for a special remembrance ceremony dedicated to those who lost their lives and the heroes who responded to the terrorist attack on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001.

This year, the Edward S. Marcus High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AFJROTC), Flower Mound Fire Department, Flower Mound Police Department, Highland Village Fire Department, and Lewisville ISD will host the ceremony on Friday, Sept. 11, at the Marcus High School (5707 Morriss Rd.) football stadium. The ceremony will begin at 9:11 a.m., and all are welcome to attend. There will be brief remarks from AFJROTC representatives and elected officials, as well as a flag ceremony and performances of the National Anthem and Taps by the Marcus Band.

Happy Labor Day, Flower Mound! Before you light up the grill and jump in the pool today, please remember that trash and recycling collection is delayed by one day. All of Monday’s customers will be collected tomorrow, Sept. 8, and so on until collection is complete on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Additionally, some Town facilities are closed or operating on adjusted schedules today. See below for a full list.

In observance of the upcoming Labor Day holiday, multiple Town facilities will have closures next week, and there will be a delay to trash and recycling collection.

Trash, recycling, and bulk collection will not run on Monday, Sept. 7, delaying collection by one day. Monday's customers will be collected on Tuesday, Sept. 8, and so on until collection is complete on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Town facility closures include:

▪️ Flower Mound Town Hall, Municipal Court, Animal Adoption Center, Public Library, and Senior Center will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7.

▪️ The Community Activity Center will be open with modified hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 7.

▪️ This Gibson-Grant Log House will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 5. However, the house will be open for regular hours from 1-5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4.

▪️ The Twin Coves Park Office will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 7.

As always, police, fire, and other emergency services will remain in operation at all times.
