As you may have heard, Accessible Play has come to a cross roads in the completion of Angie’s Playground. For the past several years we have worked with the City of Florissant to make “Angie’s Playground” come to fruition. Earlier this year the city had shared with us an expected completion date of Spring 2020 with the expectation of receiving a final grant from the Municipal Park Grant Commission (http://www.muniparkgrants.org/). Up to this point the city has received over $1,000,000.00 with 2 Municipal League grants and a planning grant to fund the needed infrastructure (parking, walkways, accessible bathhouse, etc.) to specifically support an Accessible Playground at Manion Park. Last Wednesday evening, we were informed by the Superintendent of Recreation that the city had decided not to move forward helping fund the final stage of the project (the playground). The city will still be applying for the grant but for other city needs. We are working on releasing more details and will share. If you are a resident of Florissant please show your support by reaching out to your council member or the mayor and ask them what happened, we would also like to know... Thank you for your continued support and let us know f you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
It’s a promise kept to the children on the playground, the teenagers playing ball, the senior citizens on the walking path and the families picnicking. It’s a promise kept every day in parks throughout St Louis County.
