Today, we remember and honor Florissant Police Officer Glennon Fernau.

On March 23, 2003, while chasing a suspect on foot, Officer Fernau fell down a flight of concrete stairs, sustaining serious injuries that included partial paralysis. Due to the extent of his injuries, he was forced to medically retire the following year.

On May 28, 2009, Officer Fernau underwent spinal surgery related to his injuries.

Tragically, he passed away the next day due to complications from the procedure.

Officer Fernau proudly served the Florissant Police Department for two years. His dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Officer Glennon Fernau made the ultimate sacrifice.

Future Leader Academy registration is open and spots are filling fast!

The Florissant Police Department Future Leader Academy (FLA) is a two-week summer leadership program for students in the community entering grades 8–12. It is designed to inspire and empower young people through hands-on experiences, team-building activities, workshops, and field trips that explore leadership, personal growth, and a wide range of career pathways.

Led by Florissant Police Officers and community partners, students build confidence, communication skills, and teamwork while gaining real-world exposure to opportunities that prepare them for life after high school, including college, trade school, entrepreneurship, military service, or entering the workforce.

FLA is more than just a summer program, it is a chance for students to grow as leaders, discover their potential, and prepare for a successful future, all at no cost to families.

Today, we recognize the courage and sacrifice of Officer Mike Vernon.

On May 28, 2012, he was ambushed in the line of duty and suffered life-changing injuries.

A five-year member of our department and an eight-year Army veteran, his service to both country and community reflects true dedication.

The Florissant Police Department remains proud of him, and we ask our community to keep him and his family in their thoughts.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice is a powerful reminder that the freedoms we enjoy came at a great cost.

On this Memorial Day, all of us at the Florissant Police Department extend our deepest gratitude to those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

Today’s Law Enforcement Torch Run was a great success!

Our community showed up in a big way to support the runners, with plenty of cheers, waves, and honks along the route. We are proud to take part in this event each year in support of Special Olympics Missouri and the incredible athletes it represents.

Thank you, Florissant, for cheering us on!
