VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - Little Readers, a program of the RSVP Center of Essex and Hudson Counties at Jewish Family Service of MetroWest NJ, engages older adult volunteers in promoting Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in preschools. Volunteers age 55+ read to the same small group of students each week throughout the school year using a read-aloud format that supplements the school’s SEL curriculum.

Volunteers are specifically needed to work with special needs children ages 3-5 in West Orange preschools.

Are you 55+ and looking for meaningful volunteer work?

The RSVP Center of Essex and Hudson Counties mobilizes individuals age 55 and over to give back to their communities through volunteer service. Sponsored by Jewish Family Service of MetroWest, it is a Senior Corps program federally funded by the Corporation for National and Community Services.

RSVP provides a single location where volunteers can review a range of local volunteer opportunities. A trained Volunteer Coordinator assists volunteers to ensure that they are placed in a position that matches their skills, desired time commitment and interests.

Numerous volunteer opportunities are available, each different, requiring different skills, levels of commitment, and training. Benefits of volunteering with RSVP include:

  • Make new friends and learn new skills while participating in meaningful volunteer opportunities.
