Increased winds are expected today, Monday, May 18, as severe wind gusts are anticipated to impact our region. Outdoor burning is not allowed under these conditions in Wilson County and is subject to being extinguished by local fire departments.
The absence of a county burn ban doesn't diminish your responsibility and liability. Be responsible and considerate of your neighbors and your own personal property.

This was a hard call for many of our first responders. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. There is a GoFundMe set up to help support the family and care for the horses, and the link has been posted in the KENS 5 article for anyone who would like to help. ❤️🐴

A lightning strike earlier this month destroyed the Bustamante family's 18-stall horse training facility in Floresville, killing two racehorses and wiping out decades of equipment. The family had expanded from four stalls over the years, building their entire livelihood around breaking and training horses: https://www.kens5.com/article/news/community/floresville-family-loses-horses-livelihood-training-facility-fire/273-fada9cce-a3da-4dad-a3eb-aa42e636db3f?tag1=kensshare

Your safety is our priority. Stay alert. Stay cool. Stay safe.
