On September 9, 2026, Lt. Collins was conducting a traffic stop in the Abrego Lake area when he observed another vehicle disregard a stop sign at the intersection of Abrego Lake Drive and Abrego Trail Drive.

Lt. Collins initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, and the driver provided a fictitious name. While Lt. Collins attempted to verify the driver’s identity, Deputy Spa arrived on scene to assist.

Lt. Collins was able to develop a possible identity for the driver. As Deputy Spa approached the vehicle to speak with him, the driver placed the vehicle in drive and fled from deputies toward San Antonio.

The driver, later identified as Joe Anthony Galvan, 24, of San Antonio, continued to evade deputies while driving in a manner that placed other motorists and members of the public at risk. Due to the danger posed to the public, deputies made the decision to terminate the pursuit near IH-35 and Cesar Chavez Boulevard.

Through further investigation, deputies were able to identify the owner of the vehicle and develop an address in the San Antonio area where the vehicle was believed to be located.

Deputies with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office along with officers from the San Antonio Police Department, responded to the location and observed the vehicle parked near the residence.

After several hours of negotiations, Galvan surrendered to law enforcement and was taken into custody without further incident.

Galvan was arrested on charges of Evading Arrest or Detention with a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Identify – Fugitive, and Deadly Conduct. Galvan was also wanted on two out-of-county warrants for Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle Causing Serious Bodily Injury and Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury.

We are extremely appreciative of the safe outcome of this incident and the assistance provided by all agencies involved, to include Elmendorf Police Department, San Antonio Police Department, and Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. The cooperation and coordination between law enforcement agencies allowed this incident to be brought to a conclusion without further danger to the public, responding officers, or the suspect.

🧔💅 BEARDS & NAILS GIVING BACK! ❤️

This morning, the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office was proud to donate $500 from our Beard & Nail Fund to the Floresville Food Pantry!

So, what exactly is the Beard & Nail Fund? 🤔

Each month, participating members of our staff contribute a fee that allows them to have authorized beards or nails while on duty. But the best part? That money doesn’t stay with us, but it goes right back into our community!

Throughout the year, funds collected through the program are donated to local organizations, programs, and events that serve the people of Wilson County.

This month, we are honored to support the Floresville Food Pantry and the incredible work they do helping local families. ❤️

🥫 NEED ASSISTANCE?
The Floresville Food Pantry distributes food every Thursday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The program is available to Wilson County residents, so if you or someone you know could benefit from a little extra help, please stop by.

🙌 WANT TO HELP?
The Floresville Food Pantry also welcomes volunteers! If you’re interested in lending a hand, reach out to them through their page.

A beard or a fresh set of nails might seem like a small thing, but when our staff comes together, those monthly contributions can make a meaningful difference right here at home.

We’re proud to support the Floresville Food Pantry and proud to give back to the community we serve. 💙
