We are half way through 2026 National EMS Week and have received some very exciting news yesterday that we would like to share. We have many positive updates to provide in the days and weeks ahead but this news has been long awaited and we wanted to share it with the public right away.

Effective at 4:44pm yesterday, May 19th, 2026, Florence County EMS has officially received our State of Wisconsin license level upgrade approval. Florence County EMS is now licensed to the Paramedic with Critical Care Endorsement level. This license level upgrade includes capabilities for 911 Transports, Interfacility Transports & ALS Intercept Services.

This is very exciting news for our department and the communities we serve! 🚑 We would like to extend our appreciation to the county and local municipal leaders, residents and visitors & dedicated team members on staff who have supported us as we continue to grow.

Stay tuned for more updates coming soon on the overall status of the Florence County EMS department, the progress on the building sites, and future operational plans. It has been a very busy couple years but we remain on budget financially and ahead of the projected five year plan outlined at our inception.

We are pleased to give you this update today on our license level upgrade and look forward to sharing additional updates in the coming days and weeks.

Today begins National EMS Week 2026. Improving Outcomes Together is the theme paired to this year’s recognition week. Florence County emulates that theme as we continue to build a sustainable countywide EMS structure that takes all levels of support and commitment from the residents and visitors, EMS professionals & their families, and local government leaders. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our communities.

We extend a Happy EMS Week to all of our FCEMS team members & our partner agencies as well! 💙🚑

At every hour of the day, in communities across Wisconsin, EMS professionals stand ready. From rural highways to city streets, from the first 911 call to the moment care is delivered, they bring skill, compassion, and steady leadership to some of life’s most critical moments.

Every call tells a story such as a patient stabilized, a family reassured, a community supported when it matters most. These moments may not always make headlines, but they shape outcomes and change lives.

This week, the Wisconsin EMS Association proudly recognizes the dedication, resilience, and professionalism of EMS providers across Wisconsin and beyond. Their work strengthens communities and reminds us that improving outcomes in emergency care is something we achieve together.

To every EMS professional: thank you for the care you provide, the sacrifices you make, and the difference you create every day.

April 12-18th is National Telecommunicators Week.

We want to thank our dispatchers for all you do. We know you are often forgotten behind the scenes, but we genuinely appreciate all you do. You are the calm voice for callers and responders alike and truly the unseen heroes of emergency response.

Florence County EMS recently partnered with the Florence County School District to bring CPR training to the 9th grade class. Community resources coming together with partnerships like this one strengthens our community and provides excellent training opportunities for youth interested in careers like EMS.

Good luck Ladycats! 💚🏐💛

We will be escorting the Florence Lady cats out of town on Wednesday Nov 5th at 1pm. We will leave the Highschool and we will travel down Central Ave from the east to west and turn onto County N. This is the first time The Volleyball team has made it to State. We encourage fans to paint the town Green and stand along Central Ave to show the girls the support they deserve... It's your time ladies; State Champs has a pretty good ring to it. GO BOBCATS!!!!!!
