Congratulations to our Newly Certified Apparatus Operators!

Please join us in congratulating our newest apparatus operators who have successfully completed our in-house apparatus operator training program!

Congratulations to Firefighters: Zach Castleberry, Brayden Collins, Christian Espinoza, Zach Greene, Collen Kim, Sam Reynolds, Eric VanMeter, and Jacob Worley!

The program included extensive training in:

🔹 Emergency Response Policy and Guidelines
🔹 Pump Operations
🔹 Driver’s Training

Becoming an apparatus operator requires dedication, knowledge, and a commitment to safely operating our emergency vehicles. We are proud of the hard work and effort these members put into completing the program.

A special thank you to all of our instructors who dedicated their time, knowledge, and experience to make this training possible. Your commitment to developing the next generation of apparatus operators is greatly appreciated!

We had a great time welcoming members of our community into Station 31 today ! It was a great opportunity to meet our firefighters, learn more about what we do, check out the firehouse, and enjoy some delicious ice cream sandwiches.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and spent some time with us! We love getting the chance to connect with the people we serve.

📅 Don’t miss our LAST one next week on Thursday, August 27th from 2 PM - 4 PM! Come out, say hello, learn about your fire department, and enjoy an ice cream sandwich with us!

Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a firefighter or paramedic? Now is your chance to find out!

Florence Fire/EMS is excited to announce our 2026 Citizen Fire Academy, a free 10-week program that gives participants a behind-the-scenes look at the people, equipment, and training that keep our community safe.

📅 Wednesdays, September 2 – November 4, 2026
🕕 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Throughout the academy, you'll experience interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities while learning about:

Today, we recognize and celebrate the retirement of Firefighter/Paramedic Jason Bowling after years of dedicated service to our department and the community.

Throughout his career, he answered countless calls for help, cared for those in need, and served with professionalism, compassion, and commitment. His dedication has made a lasting impact on our department and on everyone who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

While we'll miss having him on shift, we are excited for this next chapter in his life and wish him nothing but happiness, good health, and many well-earned days of relaxation.

Today, B shift spent time sharpening their skills through company training. Each crew selected a different hands-on training topic, allowing them to focus on building and refining the skills that matter most in the field.

From reviewing the fundamentals to tackling more advanced scenarios, every training opportunity helps ensure we're prepared to provide the highest level of service to our community.

Help us congratulate Captain Josh Corry as he takes the last lap of his last tour. Yesterday Capt Corry worked his last shift before enjoying the start of his well earned retirement. Josh started in the fire service in 2004 and has been a member of Florence Fire/EMS since 2005. He has been a steadfast member of every crew he served with and one of the most competent fire ground tacticians to have on scene. We are grateful for the example he set during his 21 years of dedication to his craft and our community. Congratulations Josh, and good luck to what comes next.
