Help Us Shape This Year’s Fall Festival! 🚒🍂

The time is nearing, and we want your help with an idea. What if we made it more of a community carnival, where the community actually helps run the carnival?

Our idea is to map out several stations throughout the fire bays and invite local businesses, churches, and organizations to “sponsor a game” for the night. We provide the space and help organize everything, while each group could come up with and run their own fun game or activity.

Think simple carnival-style games, creative challenges, prizes, and maybe even some friendly competition between the different groups.

So before we start making plans, we want to hear from you:

Yesterday afternoon, Southwest Rankin Fire Department responded to the 1500 block of Highway 469 S for a single vehicle crash with reported entrapment.

Upon arrival, Southwest personnel found the patient trapped in their vehicle. Due to the extent of the patient’s injuries and the conditions in which she was found, SW requested additional fire personnel for assistance with extrication and AirCare was requested to launch a helicopter. The patient was quickly extricated, treated on scene, and then transported for further medical care.

Southwest Rankin Fire Department would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of the agencies and personnel who assisted with this incident. We are grateful for the dedication to quality care demonstrated by everyone involved.

At approximately 9:30 on July 28, Southwest Rankin was dispatched to the intersection of 469 S and Mountain Creek Farm Rd for a 2 car MVC.

Upon arrival, crews found one vehicle upside down in the roadway and another off the roadway in the ditch. The overturned vehicle was still occupied by 3 patients. SW units quickly removed the patients from the vehicle without incident and began providing care. Meanwhile, another SW unit assessed the driver of the other vehicle. 3 patients were transported to a local hospital by ambulance and 1 patient signed a refusal.

The roadway remained blocked until the vehicles were retrieved by towing company and then was reopened.

We’d like to extend our gratitude to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Pafford Ambulance Service and Rankin County Sheriff’s Office for their swift responses and assistance.

Amy Grantham has dedicated herself to serving her community since 2020. She holds certifications as Firefighter I & II, Vehicle Extrication Technician, and Emergency Medical Responder (EMR).

Her commitment to public safety, continuous learning, and compassionate service has made a lasting impact on the community. Please join us in congratulating Amy on this well-deserved recognition!
