🛑 FOR YOUR AWARENESS 🛑

Our office, and the Highway Safety Commission, worked together with the Town of Florence to get this accomplished. After many complaints, directed patrols and a few accidents over the years…a 4 way Stop is now in place for everyone’s safety in the town of Florence.

An appreciative citizen sent us this private message yesterday after being helped by one of our Florence County K9 officers while he was on the way to a vet appointment with his K9 partner:

“He was very helpful. Very kind. It was a quick easy fix. He probably didn’t have to stop, but he did. Very appreciative of good officers like him.”

We truly appreciate when members of our community take the time to share positive feedback like this. Small acts of kindness and service often go unnoticed, but they can make a big difference to someone having a rough day.

We are proud of the deputies and K9 teams who continue serving Florence County with professionalism, compassion, and dedication every day. 🐾💙

⭐️ From the Desk of the Sheriff ⭐️

It has been a busy start to Spring at the Sheriff’s Office. I’ve said it before I’m not good at keeping up with all the social media holidays and weeks. But I will take this time to thank and honor our Corrections Officers/Dispatchers and Deputies.

May is filled with weeks to honor all of them; especially those who have served and laid down their lives in an effort to protect their communities. Please if you see any of our staff, just take the time to thank them and always honor those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

⭐️Our deputies have begun ATV patrols when possible. We are able to do these patrols because we are full staff and have maintained this great retention of employees while I have been Sheriff. I attended a Blue Ox Trail Riders meeting recently. Kudos to them and the work they do to make riding enjoyable in our county.

⭐️Two deputies just completed weights and measures training at Fort McCoy. Something we had in the works for some time and again were able to complete due to staffing levels.

We have boat patrol planned as well in the upcoming months.

⭐️Our K9s continue their amazing work. Both doing well at a recent competition and completing their certification. Highlights of Deputy Krueger and Rajzi earning a 5th place overall and Deputy Windell and Rambo 12th overall, out of nearly 70 teams. Many summer events planned (shared previously) where you can continue to support Friends of the Florence County Sheriff Office K9 Unit, or check out their page.

We have fielded more complaints in regards to not stopping at the stop signs on In Comm Drive. We are working with the Town of Florence for a solution.

May is always a busy month…graduations, bike safety, DARE and the start of summer and hopefully warmer weather. Warmer weather usually brings along with it speeding and impaired driving. I’m very pleased to bring back a MOCK accident for our MS/HS students, which will take place on May 14th at 10am. An event to bring awareness of impaired/distracted driving amongst teenagers and also a training exercise for all our local first responders. Our hope is that this will be impactful for all, but if it helps or impacts only one student or family; I will still consider that a WIN.

⭐️And yes, there is a parade in the works for June 27th at 1pm, Florence Sesquicentennial Parade followed by a Veteran appreciation ceremony and street dance Tavern on Central. To sign up for the parade go to: florencewi.com/parade, or stop in Angie's Creations in Florence.

Stay Safe!
Your Sheriff,
Teresa
