Rescheduled: Florence County Homecoming Parade

The School District of Florence County invites all community members, families, and alumni to join us along Central Avenue for the annual Homecoming Parade!

Date: Wednesday, October 14

Lineup Time: 4:30 PM

Parade Starts: 5:00 PM

We appreciate everyone's flexibility and understanding regarding the schedule change. Pack the sidewalks along Central Avenue, show your school spirit, and help us celebrate our students!

The Northwoods Storm Cross Country team consisting of students from Niagara and Florence have been putting up some impressive times and numbers! The boys team have won or placed in the top 3 at every meet. Several boys earning top 10 finishes along the way.

They have their Conference meet coming up in Laona on October 15th, with Regionals to follow. Here are few pictures from the season so far.

🌟 Student of the Week: Mason Butterfield🌟

Mason, an 11th grader, consistently demonstrates a strong commitment to academic success and is an active, engaged participant in the classroom. He leads by example, approaches each day with a positive attitude, and takes pride in producing quality work.

Mason is also someone his teachers can count on to stay focused and make the most of his time. When there is a task to complete, he is ready to get started and gives it his best effort. His dedication, responsibility, and strong work ethic make him a great example for his peers.

Outside of the classroom, Mason is involved in soccer, where he continues to demonstrate the teamwork and commitment that he brings to his academics.

Step right up! Florence School's cafeteria just became the Greatest Lunch Show on Earth.

This week, we're celebrating National School Lunch week with Cafeteria Circus: new decorations themed menus, and a whole lot of reasons to actually look forward to lunch. Same great meals, just a lot more fun finding out what's on the menu.

This is what it looks like when lunch becomes something to talk about at pick up.

🚒🔥 **Thank You, Florence County Fire & EMS!** 🔥🚒

A huge thank you to Florence County Fire & EMS for providing an engaging and educational day on October 6th for all of our Florence Elementary Bobcats in grades 4K–6th! ❤️💛

Our students learned about fire prevention, participated in a fun and interactive game, and had the opportunity to explore our fire trucks and ask questions. What a wonderful way to make fire safety learning fun, meaningful, and memorable!

We are so grateful for our local firefighters and EMS professionals who take the time to educate our students and help keep our community safe. Thank you for all you do for our little Bobcats and the Florence community! 🐾🚒

The Florence County School District and community are incredibly fortunate to have Sheriff Teresa’s team to lead the way during ANY emergency situation. Thank you, and thank you to our emergency response team for your quick and swift response today to keep our students, staff and community safe! ♥️💚💛🚔🚒

⭐️ PRESS RELEASE ⭐️

On Friday, October 9th at approximately 1025am Florence County 911 received a 911 call from the Florence County School District. School personnel advised that a call was made to their building making a bomb and active shooter threat.

Due to the threat of an active shooter, school officials evacuated students and staff. Deputies and mutual aid from neighboring Michigan agencies all responded and cleared the school. All students and staff were accounted for and safe.

Law Enforcement and Emergency Management began investigating the origins of the call. During initial investigation it was discovered that other school districts in Wisconsin had very similar calls. We were able to verify with calls from other jurisdictions with our call taker confirming this was a “swatting” incident. This investigation will continue with the assistance of the FBI.

Our school staff and Law Enforcement acted accordingly to safety protocols. A bomb dog was utilized from Brown County and the school was cleared.

Unfortunately due to this chaotic day with students; the school district has decided to postpone the Homecoming parade to a future date.

The collaboration of all departments, school administration, staff and students led to a safe resolution for all involved; although the situation was certainly frustrating and unfortunate.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Sorry for the confusion. This message has clarification regarding Homecoming activities.

We are pleased to share that local law enforcement has completed a full sweep of our Middle/High School building and has confirmed that the facility is clear and safe.

As you may be aware, similar threats were reported across the state today. Our students and staff have been safely bussed back to the school building.

We understand that this has been a long process for our students and staff, but student and staff safety is our number one priority.

Cell Phone Policy Exception: To allow families to connect and check in, an exception to our cell phone policy will be made for the remainder of this afternoon. Your student will be permitted to communicate with you directly via their phone.

We deeply appreciate law enforcement’s swift response and our community’s support and patience throughout the day. If you have any remaining questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the main office.

The Homecoming Parade is postponed. More information about this being rescheduled will come in the following days. The Homecoming dance is still scheduled for tomorrow as normal. The rest of the festivities which the students missed out on today will also be announced for rescheduling in the following days.

Subject: Evacuation at Middle/High School Building

Dear Families and Staff,

This morning, we received a bomb threat involving our middle/high school building. In accordance with our established safety procedures, the building was evacuated at 10:36 a.m. All students and staff are accounted for and safe.

Law enforcement officials are currently on site and actively investigating. We are working closely with authorities and will continue to follow their guidance as we respond to this situation.

The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is our number one priority. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide additional updates as more information becomes available.

Everyone is accounted for and safe. At this time we are asking that everyone avoid all school property so that our safety procedures can be carried out.
