Wait until you see what a difference that made. 👀

That warm, amber glow comes from the hand-wound quad-loop tungsten filament in this vintage-style bulb, and it completely changes the feel of the lamp. It’s cozy and nostalgic!

Add cloth-covered wire and it gives the lamp even more character and really completes the vintage look.
If you’re working on a lamp restoration, Sundial Wire is basically a dream. They have everything you need to bring your piece back to life, from bulbs and cloth-covered wire to plugs, sockets, shades and more. 🤎

The little details really do make all the difference.

From a Hollywood movie set to your vintage lamp. 🎬💡

Sundial Wire has been making period-correct, cloth-covered wire since 1990, when a film crew came looking for the right wire for Billy Bathgate.

Since then, their wire has made its way onto the sets of:

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Seabiscuit
King Kong
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
War of the Worlds
Plus TV shows like The Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire, Fringe, Bones, and Heroes.

Decades later, it’s still made in a small mom-and-pop workshop, where each piece is hand-braided.

Hollywood has used it. Now your next vintage restoration can, too. 👀

There’s something so fun about finding a lamp with good bones and bringing it back to life instead of passing it by. And once you start collecting them, you realize your house doesn’t need one giant overhead light to feel bright.

Give me lamps in every corner, each with its own personality, history, and glow. The little lights are what give a space character. 💡

And when it’s time to give an old lamp new life, Sundial Wire has what you need to make it happen, from braided wire and plugs to bulbs and more. Their cloth-covered wire is made with cotton and rayon, never nylon, so you can choose the perfect look to complement your lamp.

With everything you need from Sundial Wire, giving an old thrifted lamp new life is easier than you might think.

From plugs and sockets to bulbs and their signature braided wire, you can find the pieces you need to turn that thrift-store find into a lamp you’ll actually want to keep.

So go ahead and rescue the weird lamp. The vintage one. The one with the perfect shape but questionable wiring.

A little rewiring, a little character, and suddenly you’ve got another reason to skip the big light and fill your home with lamps you love. 💡

I had never seen a lamp quite like this before, so naturally I had to bring it home and give it some love. It needed a new wire and plug, so Sundial Wire was the perfect place to start.

But the thing about DIY projects? They’re not always 100% finished in one go!

This lamp uses an R7s double-ended halogen bulb, and it gets HOT, which makes me think it’s missing its heat-resistant glass safety cover. Now I’m on the hunt for the correct one so I can get this beauty safely working again.

If you recognize this lamp or know what cover belongs here, sound off in the comments! I’d love to get this project completely finished and safely back in working order.

How hard can it be? Found a pretty cord, so naturally I had to learn how to rewire a lamp.

Wiring doesn’t have to be ugly. Or a nightmare!

Rewiring a lamp is way easier than it looks when you have the right materials. And with genuine Sundial Wire™, you’re getting cloth-covered wire that’s beautiful and built to last. They’ve been providing high-quality wire since 1992, so you know you’re choosing something proven, not just pretty.

Aesthetic charm on the outside, modern safety on the inside. Exactly how it should be!

Because a beautiful piece deserves a beautiful wire, too.
