There are so many emotions wrapped up in this moment: excitement, nerves, gratitude, and a whole lot of pride. What started as an idea has become something we’ve poured countless hours, late nights, and so much heart into, and we cannot believe it’s finally time to welcome you inside.

We are incredibly grateful for every person who has encouraged us, supported our businesses, shared our posts, asked when we were opening, and cheered us on along the way. We truly could not have made it to this moment without the support of our community.

Holt Grill & Co. was created to be a place where you can gather around the table with family and friends, enjoy a good meal, and feel right at home.

🏁 A Piece of Florence Racing History Returns to Darlington! 🏁

The story of Joe Caspolich and the “Paperhanger’s Special – City of Florence” is one of determination, community and a shared love of racing.

During the 1957 Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, Caspolich was critically injured in a devastating crash. He was brought to Florence for treatment, where he spent weeks recovering from injuries that included a broken pelvis, ribs and shoulder and a badly injured left arm. But Joe was determined that the wreck would not be his final race.

Florence became an important part of his comeback. He returned here for additional medical treatment and eventually moved to Florence, working as a mechanic at Griffin Motors while preparing to race again. Along the way, he became part of the community — and the community became part of his story.

Local supporters joined together to purchase a very special race car for his return: the 1959 Oldsmobile that Lee Petty had driven to victory in the first Daytona 500. With Caspolich behind the wheel, it became the No. 2 “Paperhanger’s Special – City of Florence.”

In the 1959 Southern 500, Joe finally fulfilled the promise he had made to himself. He returned to Darlington, finished the race and crossed the line in 13th place — with CITY OF FLORENCE proudly displayed on the side of his car.

Now, more than six decades later, that incredible piece of racing history will be on display during Southern 500 weekend, September 5–6, 2026, in the Darlington Raceway Fan Zone.
