The City of Florence is participating in social media to present matters of public interest in Florence to our many residents, businesses, and visitors. Here you will find the latest City news, including city-related special events, programs, projects, services, and announcements. If you have an emergency, please call 9-1-1. The City of Florence welcomes your comments and suggestions on its main and affiliated social media outlets. You are encouraged to submit your questions, comments, and concerns, but please note that all City social media outlets are moderated online discussion sites and not traditional public forums. The City of Florence’s social media outlets are limited public forums, comparable to the citizen input section of its Council meeting, and public comments are subject to appropriate time, place, and manner regulations. The City reserves the right to screen, delete or hide the following inappropriate content form its social media pages:
• Comments that are not relevant to the post or topic being discussed
• Profane, obscene, violent or pornographic content
• Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates harassment or discrimination based on race, creed, color, age, religion, gender or national origin
• Defamatory comments or personal attacks
• Comments in support of, or in opposition to, any political campaigns or ballot measures
• Solicitation of commerce, including but not limited to advertising any business, service or product of sale
• Spam which could potentially create computer safety concerns to page participants
• Conduct which violates federal, state or local laws
• Advocacy or encouragement of illegal activity
• Contains personal identifying information or medical information; the City recommend you refrain form sharing such information on social media outlets
• Content which infringes on the intellectual property rights of 3rd party
The City of Florence will not moderate public comment on its social media outlets based on the viewpoint or opinion expressed therein. Please note that comments may be subject to disclosure in accordance with the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act.
