Last week, our crew had an opportunity to participate in a Touch‑A‑Truck event at the Vinley Jones Library. The kids explored the engine, asked the best questions, and even joined us for story time. We’re grateful for every chance to connect with our young community members and help spark their curiosity about safety and service.

Breaking bread!

We had a great morning today as FFMD cooked and shared breakfast burritos with the Florence Police Department. It’s always an honor to support the men and women who work hard every day to keep our community safe.
At the end of the day, we’re all playing on the same team — serving Florence and supporting our community together.

🔥 The Chief may be out of town, but a BBQ challenge can’t go unanswered. He has officially delegated rib‑eating duties to our Fire Marshal, who is prepared to defend the honor of Florence Fire & Medical Department with dignity, determination, and possibly a wet nap.

Challenge accepted. 😏

50,000 strong! Our department is incredibly proud to be part of the first 50,000 firefighters enrolled in the NIOSH National Firefighter Registry (NFR) for Cancer! As a Gold Helmet Department, our crew is officially in the fight against cancer. But to make this research as powerful as possible, the NFR needs to keep growing.

We challenge our neighboring departments to step up and join us! Enroll today: https://nfr.cdc.gov/

Training never stops.
This week, our firefighters spent time on vehicle extrication skills—hands‑on practice that helps us respond quickly and safely when seconds matter. Special Thanks to Jerry with Swift Group for coming out for our training.

Florence Fire & Medical reminds our community to stay alert for increased snake activity. Living in a rural area means snakes are part of our environment, especially as temperatures rise. Be cautious around vegetation, keep yards clear of debris, and supervise children and pets outdoors. If you encounter a snake, do not attempt to handle it.

Florence Fire & Medical got a non-emergency call today from the folks over at a Pinal County Building, worried about a momma cat and her kittens. Working together with the team over at Public Works, we searched for Momma Cat, but unfortunately, we didn't find her. After some deliberation, Pinal County staff came up with a different plan to catch her. Great collaboration comes from stepping beyond our own roles and working closely with other departments. When we combine our strengths, we create solutions that are smarter, faster, and stronger for the entire organization. It's about teamwork!
