67th District Court is closed on Thursday, June 19th for Juneteenth.
Juneteenth commemorates the events of June 18, 1865, in Galveston, Texas when the last Black slaves of the Confederacy were ordered free following the arrival of Union Troops. President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation to free enslaved African Americans in secessionist states on January 1, 1863, but enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, would not learn of their freedom until two years later.

Words cannot explain the emotions I am feeling this week. The Genesee County Treatment Courts have been my home for 13 years. I have made amazing friends who have turned into family. I have had the honor and privilege to work with the most amazing people, participants and co-workers. To the Team, you are the BEST! Your utter dedication to help others is inspiring! To the participants, thank you for allowing me to be apart of your recovery journey. Thank you for trusting me and allowing yourselves to drop your guard. Being the Sobriety Court Coordinator and Probation Officer has been beyond rewarding and I have learned so much here. I am sadden to go but excited for my new journey as a State Court Administrative Office Problem-Solving Court Analyst. Everyone, keep being amazing! 💜
