Racing returns to Cronin Derby Downs this weekend. ๐ After decades, the Flint Soap Box Derby is back at its historic home. The track, originally built under former Mayor Donald R. Cronin, has been restored with the help of a $750,000 community development block grant.
The Genesee County Land Bank deeded the property back to the city, and we are proud to have played a role in making this comeback possible. Saturday's event includes 24 participants from across Genesee County and southeast Michigan. It is free to attend. The winner goes to the World Championships in Akron.

The grounds produced three All-American Soap Box Derby National Champions in a six-year period between 1978 and 1983.
