It starts with the soil! 💚

It starts with the soil! 💚

Leaving residue is great for your soil, partially due to these little guys! 🐞

Crop residue provides food and shelter for above-ground insects. They eat the residue and help to break it down throughout the winter, creating organic matter for the soil. Residue management is an important part of a soil health system. Leaving crop residue, strip tilling, reduced tillage, and cover crops are all components to residue management that can increase soil organic matter and overall soil health and structure.

Found a tick? Report it to us!

Genesee County Environmental Health has created a form for residents to report finding ticks in Genesee County.

Reporting ticks and their location will help the environmental health team to investigate the area and collect ticks for disease testing.

Genesee County has partnered with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) to monitor ticks and mosquitoes from April to September for vector-borne diseases such as Lyme disease and West Nile Virus.

Use the link in the comments to report ticks to our environmental health team.
