2026 General Motors Student Corps orientation. Each year 8 students and 2 alternates go through a rigorous selection process to be a part of an 8 week summer internship. The students are paid $18/hr to work on campus improvement projects, acquire soft skills to excel in their careers, experience college life, and skilled trades. It is an awesome experience! This opportunity is brought to you by GM in partnership with the SWA Thrive Up Community Education Team.

Yesterday a group of Southwestern Classical Academy Thrive Up students descended on Briarwoood Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center to bring some joy to the lives of the residents. Success Coach, Adrianna Polselli won a grant from the C.S. Mott Centennial Celebration for her Glow Up and Give Back program. Thrive Up cosmetology students visited Briarwood and helped residents with their nails and other beautification. Salute to the entire Southwestern Thrive Up Team! Thank you for your innovation and service!

Today marked our final PBIS therapy dog visit of the school year with our favorite furry friend, Josie! 🐾💙

Students and staff always look forward to spending time with Josie, whose calming presence, wagging tail, and loving personality bring so much joy to our school community. Thank you to everyone who helped make these visits possible throughout the year. We are so grateful for the smiles, comfort, and positive moments Josie shared with us!

We can’t wait to welcome Jojo Bear back again next year! 🐶✨
