The Kewpee/Halo Burger Centennial Project A page devoted to the book Kewpee Hamburgers: A Mity Nice History published by The History Press.

This page was created for readers of this page to read my works in progress in writing the book "Kewpee Hamburgs: A Mity Nice History" allowing them to critique the material and also provide useful material in the production of the book which is scheduled to be published on July 24, 2023 for the centennial of Kewpee restaurants and Kewpee spinoff Halo Burger which was founded as the very first Kewpee Hotel in Flint, MI.

Ivonne wanted to spend the afternoon going places in downtown Flint which included having Boston Coolers at the historic Halo Burger, the former Vernors outlet and Kewpee Hamburgers. I wore my Kewpee cap which both staff and patrons were impressed by. So I was reminded of this commerical I made three years ago, incorporating a vintage animated Kewpee commercial, to promote my Kewpee Hamburgers book. BTW, the planned opening date for Cops & Doughnuts inside Halo Burger is August 17, the day before my birthday.

I've started a new downtown Flint Art Walk tradition for this monthly activity. Before taking in the exhibits, have dinner at the flagship Halo Burger next to the Greater Flint Arts Council building. I had a black bean olive burger, fries and a Boston Cooler.

The last surviving former Kewpee in Flint, MI, which changed its name to Halo Burger in 1967, had its Grand Re-Opening today. After waiting two hours in line, I had a fish sandwich with a small fry and a Boston Cooler made with Vernors ginger ale and vanilla ice cream. It was built in 1929 as the Vernor's sandwich shop offering their locally famous ginger ale. It was sold to Bill Thomas who operated the original Kewpee on Harrison Street as his second Kewpee location in 1951.
