April 21, 2026 Town Council Meeting
The Flatwoods Town Council met Tuesday evening at the municipal building, addressing community concerns about festival traffic while approving several routine and forward-looking measures.
Mayor Dale Ball called the meeting to order at 6:39 p.m. following the Pledge of Allegiance and an opening prayer led by Lorie Brown. In attendance were Treasurer/Recorder Lisa Hamrick, Police Chief Shawn Brown, and council members Jake Hamrick, Brenda Ball, Nathan Lancaster, and Courtney Luzader. A small group of residents also attended.
Council unanimously approved the March 17 meeting minutes, as amended, and the latest treasurer’s report.
During the citizens’ concerns portion, attendees raised issues related to traffic patterns and congestion during the increasingly popular Fallout-themed Jamboree, which will draw significant visitor traffic to the area. As part of ongoing discussion, Brown proposed creating a “Welcome Center” near the town limits to help direct visitors and provide maps of local points of interest.
In new business, the council approved the town’s bill list and voted to lay the levy. Members also authorized $1,800 for new kennel platforms for the town’s K9s, Breck and Charley.
Looking ahead, the council voted to hold Flatwoods Days on September 12–13, 2026, with Brown serving as event coordinator.
With no old business to consider, the meeting adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
