Please be advised that a potential black bear has been spotted in the area of Woodruff Rd between Olmstead and I-75. The Michigan DNR has been notified and is currently investigating the situation.

If you see the bear, please do not approach or attempt to interact with it. Move to a safe location and contact the Flat Rock Police Dept. immediately at 734-782-2496. If in an emergency, please call 9-1-1.

Watermain Break:
The Flat Rock Water & Public Works Department is onsite of a watermain break on Arsenal Road, near the DPS garage. Residents in the area may experience interruption of service, low water pressure or discoloration. Once the watermain break is repaired, please run your water in a large quantity (bathtub, laundry tub) for a few minutes before continuing normal use.
There is no current estimated time of repair yet. Please be extra cautious when driving in the area.

Update (2/12/26 @ 10AM): Water is restored.

Please see the below Water Main Break information from our Police Department:

There is a water main break in the area of Telegraph and Matilda. Until further nitice, Matilda will be closed west of Telegraph with limited access to residents only.

The DPW will be on scene working to repair this issue. Please travel safely through the area and be mindful of our city workers.

UPDATE: Monday, January 26, 2026 at 3:40PM -
The snow emergency for the City of Flat Rock has been lifted.

City of Flat Rock Snow Emergency declared:

Sunday, January 25th at 12:00 midnight until Monday, January 26th at 12:00 midnight.

Snow Emergency declaration means that all vehicles must be removed from all public roads. This allows our Department of Public Works to safely and effectively clear the roads. Please be patient while staff works diligently to get our roads clean and safe.ye n
